Ground Ivy
Ground ivy come in many different styles and sizes. Some ground ivy will also climb walls, sometimes to extreme heights. Ground ivy will make a wonderful ground cover where grass is not desired, or not able to thrive.

One of the most striking ground ivies is the Melanie ivy. This ground ivy has large leaves, which are extremely curly on the edges. The leaves also have narrow, maroon veins. This ivy is slow growing, yet is very adaptable to almost any conditions. Thriving in zones five to eleven, the Melanie ivy makes a superb and striking ground cover.

Another of the ground ivies is the English ivy. This ivy, also slow growing, has large, fan shaped leaves silvery green in color. The dense foliage of this ground ivy grows only a few inches off the ground, making a complete block of sun for any plants below. Like most ivies, this ground ivy will also climb up walls and fences. The English ivy is easy to care for, making it a preferred ground cover by many gardeners.

There are many, many ground ivies to choose from. Most of them are easy to care for, and may even grow in no sunlight areas. Make sure to check with a nursery or garden center when deciding which ground ivy to add to any garden.
